COASTAL INUNDATION SIMULATION DUE TO SEA LEVEL RISE IN TERENGGANU, MALAYSIA

چکیده
Abstract. Coastal Inundation is the amount of water levels that reach above normal level due to flooding in coastal areas. This natural phenomenon rising local sea level. study aims develop a inundation simulation along coastline Terengganu. To ensure success this study, rate and magnitude rise are calculated using Radar Altimetry Database System (RADS) from multi-mission satellite altimetry data. The computed robust fit regression technique overlaid with global Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data, known as TanDEM-X. data utilised simulate probable areas be affected by year 2040 2100 ArcGIS software. results obtained period 1993 2015 show average Terengganu shoreline 4.84 mm/year standard deviation 0.49 mm/year. By 2100, estimated regional projected increase 0.412 m. could help development planning, defence, safety monitoring.

Framework for Analysing Coastal Vulnerability Due to Sea Level Rise and Coastal Floods using R
Sea level rise is a natural global phenomenon which is aggravated by anthropological activities. Severity of the rise varying in different parts of the world but the stress in general is increasingly threatening human development. Sustenance of a few species and their ecosystem depends on the rate and extent of rise. Coastal floods are inundations in coastal areas due to rise in sea water level...
متن کاملEstimating coastal recession due to sea level rise: beyond the Bruun rule
Accelerated sea level rise (SLR) in the twenty-first century will result in unprecedented coastal recession, threatening billions of dollars worth of coastal developments and infrastructure. Therefore, we cannot continue to depend on the highly uncertain coastal recession estimates obtained via the simple, deterministic method (Bruun rule) that has been widely used over the last 50 years. Furth...
متن کاملModelling Coastal Vulnerability and Adaptation to Sea Level Rise
Coastal regions are highly vulnerable to sea-level rise (SLR) therefore developing and implementing effective adaptation alternatives is crucial for their future development. However, there is uncertainty in the timing, duration, spatial location and extent of SLR and storms. The complexity that arises from climate, coastal systems and their interactions in space and time can easily become over...
متن کاملChapter 7: POTENTIAL COASTAL EROSION OF THE SWAN COASTAL PLAIN DUE TO LONG- TERM SEA LEVEL RISE
It is highly likely that coastal erosion due to long-term sea level rise associated with global warming will have a significant impact on Australia’s coastal systems, and any associated infrastructure, over the next century. Long-term coastal erosion is thought to occur largely through sudden-onset storm events. Therefore, attempting to quantify this natural hazard is critical to future develop...
